Winds blow in tumbleweeds, cold front

All those tumbleweeds that traveled in packs a couple of weeks ago are on the move again as high winds blow from the opposite direction. The good news is that the high wind watch for the Panhandle region has been cancelled by the National Weather Service in Amarillo.
Oh, it will still be windy — but sustained winds are expected to be no greater than 45 with gusts staying below 60, basically what we experienced Tuesday afternoon.
The winds are blowing in a cold front and will increase by late morning and shift from the southwest and west to the north and northwest and diminish by sunset.
Highs today should top out near 70 with overnight lows in the mid 30s.
Thursday’s high will be near 60 and drop to about 30 Thursday night. Friday, the mercury should climb a little higher — into the low 60s, but then fall into the upper 20s overnight.
Through the rest of the forecast period, daily highs range from low 50s to mid 60s and overnight lows hover around 30, plus or minus a few degrees.
