Goodwell, Okla. — Each week during the school year, Oklahoma Panhandle State University recognizes Student Athletes of the Week -– an honor based upon citizenship, leadership, academic accomplishment and athletic accomplishment.

This week’s honorees are two outstanding seniors -– Jasmine Williams and Andres Belandria.

Williams, from Phoenix, earned two very important basketball honors from the Heartland Conference last season. The forward was named to the All-Heartland Conference First Team and was also honored as the league’s Newcomer of the Year. Back for her senior year, Williams is working hard on her degree in Accounting as well as looking forward to another big year on the basketball court.

Belandria, an international student at OPSU by way of Venezuela, is a hustling second baseman on the baseball team and an outstanding student pursuing a double major in Business and Computer Information Systems. Belandria is also a member of the nationally recognized OPSU Computer Programming Team and he works in the school’s Sports Information Department as a statistician.
