Slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas, Texas/Oklahoma;
Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota; on Tuesday, Trading inactive. No
trade reported.

Auction markets:
United Producers, Inc. at Shelbyville, IL Estimated Receipts: 225 Compared to
last week, slaughter steers, and heifers are trading 2.00 to 2.50 lower.
Slaughter Steers: Choice 2-3: 1100-1500 lbs 81.00-83.00. Select and Choice 2-3:
1100-1500 lbs 78.00-80.00. Slaughter Heifers: Choice 2-3: 1000-1400 lbs 80.00-

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers steady to 2.00
higher. Demand very good for feeder cattle, as second grade cattle
selling with very little discount to number one grade. Steer and
heifer calves steady to 2.00 higher on a light test. Cattle futures
sharply higher and grains closing lower. Slaughter rates continue
strong and boxed beef prices improving. Supply included 84 percent
over 600 lbs and 40 percent heifers.

Direct Trade: The direct trade prices are based on 185 lbs hog carcass with 0.9-
1.1 inch back fat and 6 inch square loin/2.0 inch depth plant delivered.
National direct trade barrows and gilts were .01 lwr with prices ranging from
46.00-59.45, weighted average price 55.85. Iowa-Minnesota was .25 lwr at
46.00-59.45, weighted average price 56.88. Western Cornbelt sold steady at
46.00-59.45, weighted average price 57.23 and the Eastern Cornbelt was .17 lwr
at 48.00-58.00 weighted average price 54.26.

Live Basis (240-280 lbs): National direct prices were 1.30 lwr with prices
ranging from 37.00-44.63, weighted average price 42.12. Iowa-Minnesota prices
were 1.70 lwr with prices ranging from 37.00-44.16, weighted average price
41.88. Western Cornbelt prices were 2.52 lwr with prices ranging 37.00-44.61,
weighted average price 41.58. Eastern Cornbelt prices were .59 hgr with prices
ranging 38.21-44.63, weighted average price 42.62.

Sheep and Lambs: Compared to last Monday, slaughter lambs sold sharply
higher, mostly 10.00-15.00 higher, with the bulk of the supply consisting of
lambs weighing over 60 lbs. Trade moderate with very good demand. Slaughter ewes
sold higher. There were not enough slaughter bucks for an accurate market test.
All sheep and lambs are sold by the hundred weight, on actual weights.

Compared to last Monday, slaughter kids sold higher, mostly 5.00 to 7.00 with
bulk of the supply consisting of kids weighing under 60 lbs. Slaughter nannies
sold lower. Slaughter billies, whethers and yearlings sold higher. Trade active
with moderate demand. All goats are sold by the head, on estimated weights.
