Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 06/23/2009
Receipts: 3500 Last Week: 4465 Year Ago: 4027
Compared to last week prices uneven, steer and heifer calves sold 2.00-4.00
lower, while yearlings were 1.00-3.00 higher. Supply moderate. Demand unevenly
moderate to good, best on heavier weaned calves and about any yearling. Both
the heat blast and extreme heat index the main culprit for the sudden back-slide
in calf market this week, with early reports of heat stress related losses
already taking a toll, even holding some buyers back awaiting a temperature
break.
