Boise City man injured in collision

A 20-year-old Boise City man is listed in critical condition at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with head injuries following a two-vehicle collision near Guymon Friday.

The accident occurred at 12:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, on a county road 5.8 miles east and 3 miles south of Guymon. According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports, a 1989 Ford driven by Preston Thornton of Boise City was northbound from a private drive and failed to yield from a stop sign, striking a 2004 Ford driven by Alvaro Alvarez, 30, of Liberal, who was wearing a seatbelt wasn’t not injured. Thornton was ejected out the driver’s side window. Thornton’s passenger, 24-year-old Cody Loftin of Hardesty, was transported to Memorial Hopsital of Texas County where he was treqted and released. Neither were wearing seatbelts.

The incident was investigated by Trooper Ryan Williams of the OHP Guymon Detachment assisted by Lt. David Welch, Texas County Sheriff’s Office, Guymon EMS and the Guymon Fire Department.
