Good news likely on electric bills this month

You may have seen reports recently that many areas of the country will be experiencing lower winter heating  bills thanks in part to dropping prices of fuel and natural gas. It appears that Tri-County Electric Co-op will get to share their cost break with us.

Although those of us with gas heat will not be so fortunate. As previously reported here: Heating fuel costs increase in Guymon

But back to the good news! Zac Perkins, Tri-Country’s manager of customer service, responds to my email query that: “The Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) portion of member energy bills is expected to decrease from prior months in the upcoming billing cycle for December. The PCA varies month-to-month to compensate for the regular fluctuations in the price of coal and natural gas used to generate the electricity consumed by members. Since fossil fuels prices are volatile and difficult to predict, the PCA allows us to adjust the price of electricity each month so our rates always reflect the real cost to serve the member.

“We always encourage members to visit our Web site at www.tri-countyelectric.coop for energy efficiency tips to reduce their energy usage. Also on our website, members will find a link to contact elected officials about our nation’s energy needs through a joint campaign with National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), called Our Energy, Our Future. Our cooperative members can follow the link from our home page and send an e-mail or letter to our lawmakers. This is a great opportunity to become a proactive voice in America’s current energy challenge.”

And speaking of the NRECA: National Rural Electric Cooperative Association seeks to generate power to help the earth
