Enjoy fall beauty while you can

Just a few cold snaps have turned the trees into a riot of color. Get out and enjoy nature’s beauty this weekend while you can because there’s a change acomin’ in for Sunday night.

The folks at the National Weather Service in Amarillo can’t make up their minds as to whether we might see snow sometime Monday.

They are sticking with, so far, a slight [20 percent] chance of rain and/or snow, but that snow mention has come and gone and come again. Time will tell.

Otherwise, highs should reach around 60 this weekend here inthe Oklahoma Panhandle, with overnight lows about 30 tonight but only dropping to 37 on Sunday night and windy as that cold front that dropped snow in the Dakotas blows through. Monday’s high is forecast to top out in the low 40s, however, with the mercury expected to remain above freezing Monday night.

Veterans’ Day should be mostly coudy with a high again in the low 40s and low 30s overnight. The warming trend begins Wednesday with a high in the low 50s, on its way up to the low 60s for Thursday and Friday. Overnight lows then should stop in the mid to upper 30s.
