Strong northerly winds today

A wind advisory is in effect from 9 am this morning to 6 PM CST this afternoon as sustained winds of  25 to 35 and gusts to 50 are possible by afternoon.

Strong winds expected Sunday

A high wind watch — with sustained north to northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph and gusts to 55 mph — is in effect from Sunday morning through Sunday afternoon for the central and eastern portions of the Panhandles.

OK not only state studying switchgrass

There are tens of thousands of acres of abandoned surface mines [more accurately known as strip mines] in West Virginia. Now, three 10-acre plots have been devoted to learning if switchgrass can grow there.

Livestock market wrapup 11/29/08

The following market information was reported by the U.S. and Oklahoma Departments of Agriculture and other sources for the week ended Wednesday:
Combined weighted average report for Oklahoma auctions. Three feeder auctions this week were Woodward, Oklahoma City and Tulsa. All others closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Normal schedules will return Monday.

Pickens: Renewable energy sources a must for US
