OPSU student athletes of the week

Goodwell, Okla. — Each week during the school year, Oklahoma Panhandle State University recognizes Student Athletes of the Week -– an honor based upon citizenship, leadership, academic accomplishment and athletic performance.

Earning honors this week are football player Will Turnbo and Whitney Knippling of the women’s rodeo team.

Knippling comes from Chamberlain, South Dakota and is a standout rodeo performer – competing for the Lady Aggies in Goat Tying, Breakaway, Barrel Racing, and Team Roping. Knippling, a sophomore, is also a standout performer in the classroom, pursuing a major in Ag Business.

Turnbo -– all 6’4 and 285 pounds of him -– has performed with distinction this season as a defensive lineman. The sophomore from Wesson, Mississippi is also performing with distinction in the classroom, working on his general studies requirements with an eye on a career in Mechanical Engineering.
