Food for thought

A couple of local eateries — Charlie’s Smokin’ Barbecue and the Shrimp Shack — have made some changes.
For anyone else who might have been wondering about Charlie’s Smokin’ Barbecue being here in Guymon a couple of weeks ago, I asked them about that because I’m used to getting my Charlie’s fix the last week of the month.
The explanation I got was that when there are five weeks in a month, they try to hit Guymon twice. Yeah, it didn’t make sense to me either and I managed to get him confused while he was trying to explain it to me, but the important thing is they will be back here again this week. On that, I’m clear.
Also, those folks at the Shrimp Shack have changed things up a bit. There’s an expanded menu — including gator and Frito chili pie. Plus, each Sunday they will offer turkey and all the trimmings — yep, cornbread stuffing, homemade mashed potatoes with gravy, cut or greenbean casserole, cranberries, a roll and pumpkin pie! Not only was it just like my mom made it — although yours may not – I also left with the Thanksgiving feeling of having had just a wee bit too much. Of course, takeout boxes are available and so is the full menu.
