Weekend events

There’s lots of events this weekend and it’s easier to remind you today about events on Friday than on Friday, so just bear with me.

Especially since the leading event starts bright and early Friday as the final day this year for Cunningham’s Colorado Peaches and pears out at the Texas County Fairgrounds. They are supposed to be there between 7 and 7:30 a.m. to set up and then start selling. Also on Friday is the No Man Land’s Classic, 6-team volleyball tourney at OPSU, which also continues Saturday. Then there’s the little matter of high school football — GHS travels to Dalhart to open their season and Texhoma Red Devils play at Gruver.

Saturday, I’m getting tired just reading over the list! First off, we have the recurring Farmer’s Market from 8 a.m. until noon, but it’s usually over long before that. The Guymon Fire Department is holding their annual golf tourney at Sunset Hills and Kids Inc. football kicks off.

Plus, it’s the second day of the OPSU volleyball tourney and the Aggie football team travels to Pueblo to meet CSU-Pueblo. Then there’s the Hooker Main Street Celebration & Annual Car Show. I’m glad that’s an all-day affair because it sounds like a blast! Oh, and downtown Guymon gets a new clothing store with E2. Then, if you’ve any energy left, Mangled Motorsports holds their demolition derby at Hitch Arena that evening — at least we can sit down and rest!

Whew! Did I leave anything out? Be sure to let me know!
