Many of the rural fire departments in the region have again qualified for 80/20 cost-sharing grants from the USDA’s rural fire protection matching grant program.

All six departments in Cimarron County will receive this grant, while nine out of 10 [Guymon is too large to qualify] will receive it in Texas County and seven departments in Beaver County.

Considering the vast area these departments must cover, this money is invaluable in helping to pay recurring costs and capital costs.
