Roy P. Tarver

Roy Preston Tarver Jr., 66, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Thursday evening, July 31st, 2008 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon.
The oldest of nine children, Roy was born on July 3, 1942 in Amarillo, Texas; the son of Roy P. and Shirley Jean (Donell) Tarver Sr.
Roy attended schools in Texas and Colorado. He enjoyed playing football until injury sidelined his game. He also attended sock-hops and loved dancing with his sister Peggy. He was a true child of the 50’s, loved the music, hot rods and riding motorcycles. He loved to tease his siblings and loved the idea of sharing his birthday with his sister, Susan.
Roy moved to Guymon from Limon, Colorado in the mid 1970’s. He worked as a restaurant cook the majority of his working life. He loved to cook at family outings and share his recipes with all.
While cooking at LeAnn’s he met the love of his life, Donna Evans. They were united in marriage on March 5, 1979 in Guymon.
Roy is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; a daughter, Holly and three grandchildren. Survivors also include three sisters, Peggy Glasgow and husband, Scotty of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Susan Irwin and husband, Robin of Farmington, New Mexico and Jan Snavely and husband, Mike of Fort Worth, Texas; five brothers, Larry Tarver and wife, Leta of Limon, Colorado, Don Tarver and wife, Diana of Salina, Kansas, David Tarver and wife, Kathi of Fort Morgan, Colorado, Andy Tarver and wife, Heidi of Fort Collins, Colorado and Tracy Tarver and wife, Jeannie of Sedgwick, Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Roy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning, August 5th at 10:00 a.m. at the Sunset Lane Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Riddles officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery.
