OPSU mural class #2
After a second session with paints, the sky is starting to take shape and a couple of fauna can now be seen in the mural that OPSU students in the mural class are painting at our Guymon Super Wal-Mart.
The animals now taking shape are an armadillo and a buffalo.

GHS ‘needs improvement’ in reading
The Oklahoma State Department of Education released its statewide Needs Improvement list Thursday, which identifies schools that have failed to make adequate progress for two consecutive years in the same area. Guymon High School was on the list in just one of four judged areas — reading.

States Wilson Hamby, Jr., 87, of Texhoma passed away Monday evening, August 25, 2008 at the Prarie House Nursing Home in Plainview, Texas.
The son of States Wilson and Rose Malvy (Begley) Hamby, he was born February 6, 1921 in Texas County, Oklahoma near Guymon.

Library survey results revealed
Curious as to what my fellow readers would like changed about the Guymon Public LIbrary, I followed up with a query about the survey results.
City council meets tonight
Guymon city council will face a fairly lengthy – 3 page – agenda tonight in a regularly scheduled session. Taking up one of those pages is action recommended by the latest version of the Convention and Tourism Board, who reviewed action by the previous board.
Guymon FFA to sell homecoming mums again
The Guymon FFA Horticulture program will again be selling orange and black potted fall floral tiger baskets and homecoming mums from Sept. 5 to Sept. 25. Mums will start at $5 and range to $35.
OPSU: Team effort yields results

FFA wheat harvested
The Guymon FFA Chapter harvested their wheat crop this July. The chapter gathered 550 bushels, which is being housed at ADM. The money from this crop will be utilized for student development through leadership and livestock activities.
