Laubach takes 4th in wheat show

Guymon FFA has another reason to celebrate — Zak Laubach took 4th in the FFA division of the 2008 Oklahoma Wheat Show.

This annual youth wheat show is coordinated by Dr. Kim Anderson and Oklahoma State University and sponsored by OSU, the Oklahoma Wheat Commission and the Oklahoma Wheat Research Foundation.

The Overley variety was the big winner – seven of the 10 scholarship award winners grew Overley for their entry.

The top 10 – five from 4-H and five from FFA – are given scholarships in this annual competition. Winning scholarships were:

5th Place 4-H: Colvin Null of the Hobart 4-H (OK Bullet)
4th Place 4-H: Kelsey Meier, Okeene 4-H (Overley)
3rd Place 4-H: Morgan Westfahl, Okeene 4-H (OK Bullet)
2nd Place 4-H: Tyler Meier, Okeene 4-H (Overley) and the
4-H Champion: Caleb Westfahl, Okeene 4-H (Overley)

5th Place FFA: Randy Kramer, Lomega FFA (Overley)
4th Place FFA: Zak Laubach, Guymon FFA (Overley)
3rd Place FFA: Robert Parrish, Kremlin-Hillsdale FFA (Endurance)
2nd Place FFA: Quntin Wray, Okeene FFA (Overley) and the
Champion FFA: Robert Parrish, Kremlin-Hillsdale fFFA (Overley).
