Kenzie places fourth in Amarillo Star

Guymon’s own top 10-year-old Mackenzie Helm finished fourth in the Amarillo Star final audition Sunday afternoon at the Big Texan restaurant in Amarillo. However, it was the top three who moved on to the finals at the Fair.
“Mackenzie performed great on Sunday,” mom Lynette wrote in her email. “She ended up a close fourth and if any one of the top 3 are not able to perform on Sept. 4, she will be called in as a alternate. They also asked her to perform at the Fair in Amarillo on Sept. 14 on the Coca-Cola stage” although they haven’t told her what time yet.
Now, following the Olympics and the USA male gymnasts, we all know that alternate is not a bad place to be.
Lynette also says the Kenzie is taking some time off from the pageant grind and is seeking places closer to home to perform.
