Joseph Delicio “Joe” Madrid, 78, of Guymon passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 at his home.

The son of Felipe Madrid and Sinforosa Villalpondo, Joe was born March 19, 1930 in Wagon Mound, New Mexico. Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in August of 1954.

Joe was united in marriage to Helen Rael in December of 1954 in Wagon Mound. Joe began working with the Diamond A Ranch in New Mexico. He moved his family to Dalhart, Texas in 1970, where he worked for the H & C Cattle Company under Hoss Carter. Later that year he moved to Guymon, where he has remained for the past 37 years. During that time Joe worked for Farr Better Feeds, Allen’s Inc., Hayter Tire and Clingan Tire. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Joe was very well loved and respected by all who knew him. He knew no stranger and always had good things to say about everyone he came in contact with.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Repito and Colastica Sandoval; parents, Felipe Madrid and Sinforosa Villalpondo; his wife, Helen Madrid; one son, Raymond Madrid; two granddaughters: Shannon Madrid and Kalie Vargas; one brother, Raymond Madrid; and three sons-in-law: Rick Eggers, Danny Austin and David Martinez.

Survivors include his children: Fred Madrid and wife, Dianna of Hugoton, KS, Charles Madrid and wife, Irene of Hooker, OK , Sandra Austin of Guymon, Janie Eggers of Guymon, TJ Madrid and Amie Mason of Conway, AR, Daniel Madrid of Guymon, and Jennifer Vargas and husband, Julian of Guymon. He is also survived by his special “little buddy”, Killer; his mother, Teresa Madrid of Colorado Springs, CO; ten sisters and four brothers, all of Colorado Springs, and one brother of Guymon; 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary services will be Tuesday evening, July 8th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Guymon. Mass of Christian Burial will conducted Wednesday morning, July 9th at 10:00 a.m., also at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.

The Madrid family suggest that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.   Friends can sign the online guest book at www.bunchroberts.com .
