911 surcharge passes

The main concern in Texas County Tuesday was the countywide vote on whether to impose a 50 cent-per-month fee on each wireless connection to fund the costs of processing wireless 911 calls. Fortunatel,y voters agrred the surcharge was needed. Yes, 667 (62.5%); No, 399 (37.5%). Passed.
 
In other election news: Bryce Marlatt defeated Kevin Evans by a 3-1 margin to win the Republican ticket for State Senate Republicans District 27. With 78 of 82 precincts reporting for 95% of the results:Bryce Marlatt 4,350 - 76%  and Kevin Evans 1,360 - 24%.

Also, Republican Dana Murphy edged opponent Rob Johnson, a state representative, in a contest to decide who will face Corporation Commissioner Jim Roth in November. Murphy, 48, received 68,741 votes (51 percent), while Johnson, 34, got 65,937 votes (49 percent).
